We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers. One team of 21,000 colleagues that's energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion, and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently - we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.

About your team:

At British Gas, our mission is to sell it and mend it.

We’ve been powering the UK’s homes and businesses for over 200 years – but supplying energy is just part of what we do. We’re making the UK greener and more energy efficient, getting closer to Net Zero. By using clever tech like thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels and EV chargers, we’re making it cheaper and easier for our customers to reduce their carbon-footprint.

About Your Role

Step into a career where your curiosity, determination, and appetite for hands‑on learning really count. As a Gas Service & Repair Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in helping households enjoy reliable, efficient heating - while building a future‑ready skillset you can be genuinely proud of.

Whether you’re changing direction, starting fresh, or looking for a role with real purpose, this is your chance to grow. What matters most is your drive to learn, your problem‑solving spark, and your commitment to doing great work with care and confidence.

At our award-winning academies, you won’t just learn the basics - you’ll develop the skills, qualifications, and practical experience to thrive. You’ll train on diagnosing, servicing, and repairing a wide range of gas heating systems - from older installations through to modern, energy-efficient tech. You’ll learn how to keep systems running safely and at their best, bringing older systems back to life and making smart upgrades that boost performance. With the support of experienced engineers, you’ll build the confidence, capability, and know-how to make a real difference from day one.

This is a role where you’ll make a real impact. You’ll be out in the community, meeting customers, solving problems, and keeping homes safe and warm. No two days are the same - from fixing faults and restoring heating, to helping customers run their systems more efficiently and reduce energy use. Every job is a chance to make a real difference.

We're proud that our commitment to inclusion and developing future talent has been recognised through awards including EDI Initiative of the Year at the 2026 Women in Utilities Awards, being named a Times Top 50 Employer for Gender Equality for the fifth consecutive year, and recognition as one of The Sunday Times Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers.

If you’re looking for a career with purpose, progression, and hands‑on learning - and you want to feel supported as you grow - this could be your next step. Bring your ambition. Bring your curiosity. We’ll help you turn it into a career that makes a difference.
