Job Title: Primary Technician Apprentice
Reporting to: Mark Jennings
Business Unit: Substation Design
Purpose of the Position:
The key function of this role is to provide technical support to primary engineers on projects, which will involve using CAD software to create and modify drawings and models, site visits to collect relevant data, and collecting technical data from national and international standards. The successful candidate will assist with drawing preparation, calculations, prepare reports while ensuring projects comply with health and safety regulations and client specifications.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Including but not limited to the following:
Prepare and modify engineering diagrams, drawings, and models using software like CAD.
Collect and interpret technical information and client standard data.
Assist in the preparation of technical reports.
Assist with initial site surveys to gather data.
Ensure project designs match client specifications and comply with heath, safety, and environmental standards.
Help manage project timelines and budgets, ensuring deadlines are met.
Ensure all work adheres to relevant legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.
Collaborate effectively as part of a team and maintain professional working relationships.

Person Specification
Qualifications and experience
A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades A* - C.
Knowledge of engineering principles, construction technology, and health and safety.
An understanding of CAD and other design software.
Good attention to detail, to prepare diagrams, calculations, and other technical documents.
Excellent time management and organisational skills.
Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
Be able to work under pressure, be a team player and have a high level of self-motivation.
Possess the ability to use your initiative to ensure new skills and tasks are picked up easily.
The flexibility to work additional hours whenever required.
Desirable criteria
A good thirst for knowledge
Good analytical thinking and able to visualise designs in 3D
Undertake further education to degree level
