About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and technically minded Apprentice
Systems Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This role provides an
excellent opportunity to develop practical and theoretical skills across
communications systems, networking, satellite communications, cloud
technologies, SD-WAN, cybersecurity and systems integration.
Working alongside experienced engineers, the successful
candidate will gain hands-on experience supporting the design, build, testing,
deployment and maintenance of advanced communications solutions used by
government, defence, emergency services and commercial customers throughout the
UK and internationally.
This apprenticeship is ideally suited to an individual with
a genuine interest in technology and engineering who is keen to build a
long-term career within the communications and networking industry.
Key
Responsibilities
The Apprentice Systems Engineer will support engineering
teams in:
·Building, configuring and testing communications
equipment.
·Assisting with the deployment of satellite
communication systems.
·Supporting the configuration of IP networking
equipment.
·Assisting with SD-WAN and secure networking
solutions.
·Producing technical documentation and system
diagrams.
·Supporting laboratory and field-testing
activities.
·Assisting with fault finding and troubleshooting
activities.
·Supporting customer installations and
commissioning activities.
·Learning and applying cybersecurity best
practices.
·Supporting engineering projects from design
through to delivery.
·Maintaining engineering records and
configuration documentation.
·Assisting with inventory and asset management
activities.
·Participating in engineering training and
certification programmes.

Essential Requirements
Applicants
should possess:
·GCSE Grade C /4 or above in:
·Mathematics
·English Language
·Science (preferred)
·Strong interest in technology and engineering.
·Good problem-solving skills.
·Ability to work methodically and logically.
·Good communication skills.
·Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
·Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
·Good attention to detail.
·Basic understanding of computers and networking concepts.
Desirable
Requirements
The following would be advantageous but are not essential:
·A Levels in
mathematics/engineering/electronics/computer science.
·Previous experience building computers, networks
or electronic projects.
·Interest in amateur radio, communications
systems or networking technologies.
·Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals.
·Participation in STEM projects or engineering
clubs.
