No one really talks about this part, but it’s probably the most important. Rejection is part of the process, and yeah, it can feel rough.
It’s easy to take it personally, especially if you really wanted the role. But most of the time, it’s not about you not being good enough. It’s just about fit, timing, or someone else having slightly more experience or potential for what they are looking for.
That doesn’t make it less frustrating, but it does mean you shouldn’t let it knock your confidence completely.
Instead of seeing it as a failure, try to see it as part of the journey. Every application, every interview, it’s all practice. You’re building experience, even if it doesn’t feel like it in the moment.
If you can, ask for feedback. Not every company will respond, but when they do, it can be really helpful.
It also helps to focus on what you can control. Keep improving your CV, keep applying, keep learning. Progress doesn’t always feel obvious, but it’s happening.
And if you need a break, take one. Reset, then come back stronger.
You’re not behind. You’re just getting started.
