Interviews Don’t Have to Be Terrifying

Published on April 15

Interviews have a reputation for being scary, but they’re really just conversations.

Remember, the company already likes something about you, that’s why you got invited.

The biggest confidence boost you can give yourself is preparation. Not over-the-top, memorising-a-script kind of prep, but just understanding the basics. Know what the company does, what the role involves, and why you applied. That alone puts you ahead of a lot of people.

You’ll probably get asked things like why you want the role or what your strengths are. It might feel repetitive, but they’re just trying to understand how you think. Answer honestly, and don’t stress about being perfect.

If you need a second to think before answering, take it. It actually makes you seem more thoughtful, not less confident.

First impressions matter, but that doesn’t mean you need to be overly formal or stiff. Just be polite, show interest, and be yourself. That’s what people remember.

And if something doesn’t go perfectly, it’s not the end of the world. Most interviews aren’t about catching you out, they’re about seeing your potential and if you would be a good fit for them.

Confidence isn’t about knowing everything. It’s about showing you’re willing to learn.
